The Public Committee gives advice on academic management of KKU

       Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnouy Kamtuo, Director of the Center for Academic Services presided over the meeting with the Public Committee on the 26th of November 2013 at the Maneethawa conference room which included government organizations, the private sector and the media. The meeting is meant to express recommendations, support the development of the academic process, drive the strategy in development of the university towards success, give counseling and ideas for academic services of Khon Kaen University so it follows its strategies. The committee takes part in the assessment of developments.

       Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnouy presented the obligation of Khon Kaen University in offering academic services to society. He said: “The aims of academic services offered appointed by the University Council has 5 key points; 1) Work that solves problems and helps develop society in the Northeast (impact and community) 2) A model community using principles of participation and sufficiency economy (community model) 3) Academic work stemming from community efforts of government and private sectors (community participation) 4) Coordination of academic work with research as fundament 5) Income generation.

       After that, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnouy talked about the activities of the Center for Academic Services: “The Center for Academic Services has the following missions: 1) Academic services in public benefit. This project as received a budget of 16.8 million baht. The center has the role to meet the needs of the community and follow up on developments using friendly evaluation methods. 2) Service projects without profit objectives. The center carries out projects to fulfill the needs of different organizations to achieve their goals. For instance, local administration, Department of the Civil Servants Commission etc. 3) Academic service projects with profit aims by the Center for Academic Services. The center looks for needs to develop and build curricula, public relations and training and collect fees.“ Mr. Pornpitak Maenseri, Director of the Thailand Broadcasting Station, Khon Kaen gave his opinion on academic services of the center by saying: “I admire the results of the center which have an impact on society in good ways.”

       Mr. Taeksak Tamkhan, Village Head of Non Muang advised: “Thank you Khon Kaen University for placing importance on the community. I hope the different projects for the community will continue like the elderly care project, a project which people like very much and is for much benefit of the community, the health check project by PhD students. And Khon Kaen University supports agriculture and helps develop education in community schools too.”

        Mr. Kraiwit Pornsaen, Drector of the Center for Practice and Training for Children and the Youth Area 4 Khon Kaen expressed his opinion: “The model community according to sufficiency economy principles is a good project which can be expanded into other communities. I hope I can help teach music to children and the youth too to keep them away from drugs after the project at the center.”
