The Academic Service Center Khon Kaen University gets a new director

       The Academic Services Center Khon Kaen University gets a new director and organizes a ceremony for the new director who will focus on model community development to create concrete results for society.

       This morning (on the 1st of October 2014) Prof. MD. Weerachai Kosuwan, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer of Khon Kaen University presided over the ceremony for the change of directors of the Academic Services Center from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnouy Kamtuo, who will retire, to Asst. Prof. Dr. Rakpong Petchkam, the new director of the Center for Academic Services. He will take this position for a 4 year term from the 1st of October 2014 until the 30th of September 2018. The ceremony was held at the Dusita room on the 5th floor of the Pimon Konkit building. The assessment and investigation committee of Khon Kaen University was present as witnesses.

       After the signing ceremony transferring the duties from the old director to the new director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnouy Kamtuo talked about the work done by the center and the things which have not been done yet. He summarized this in a book which was handed over to the new director, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rakpong Petchkam, current director of the Academic Service Center. He also talked about the policies which have to be developed. He said: “The Center for Academic Services offers a diverse range of services and places importance on the community which is a good thing and has to be carried forward and further developed as a clear model which has good results for society. The center creates awareness among the community that all this good comes from Khon Kaen University. The work by the center has to be further developed in the future, especially in the development of Mekong Region countries and international cooperation. Academics of Khon Kaen University offer academic services in a variety of forms which creates a good name for the university. One more area which needs development is planning which shows the importance of community needs and their order of wants and needs. This is the main goal of the university and the plan should show how this is achieved and what are the urgent issues to be addressed. The working committee can use this plan in carrying out its duties. Another issue is transfer of knowledge and the achievements of the center which is useful information for staff so they understand the strategic direction of the center and they have to adhere to the policies only. Management of the organization and happiness of staff members and roads to professional development of all people. Development of a body of knowledge if staff members are happy, will advance the professional development of these staff members. Everyone gets chances and good governance has to be clear.”

       In the end of the ceremony, Asst. Prof. Dr. Penprapa Petcharaburanin, Head of the Department for Royal Projects Khon Kaen University and Dr. Pongsak Yangyern Vice Head of the Department of Royal Projects as well as staff members gave flowers to express their congratulations to Asst. Prof. Dr. Rakpong Petchkam, Director of the Center for Academic Services. They also gave presents to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnouy Kamtuo, former director of the center. After that, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rattana Chanthao, Associate Dean for Research and Academic Services, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences gave flowers and congratulated the director of the Academic Service Center on the occasion too.
