KKU teaches farmers the exploitation of alternative bio-products as the chemical substitutions

       KKU’s Bureau of Academic Service hosts a project entitled, “Safe Agricultural Products with Bio-product”. The project aims to acknowledge to the farmers on the bio-products making process help reduce the use of dangerous chemicals while extra products can be sold to entail more incomes for the farmers.

       Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengkrai Kitchareon, a director of Bureau of Academic Service, and his assistant director, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sathorn Porntrakulpipat, welcomed the trainers from The Center for Agricultural Technology Promotion of Khon Kaen. There were 48 members from the vegetable farming group of Banton Village, Prayuen district participated in the training on August 25.

       Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengkrai Kitcharoen said that the activity was held as an attempt to help reduce the consumers’health risk since all of the agricultural products are densely contaminated with various chemicals. The training was set to encourage the use of safe bio-chemicals, developed from bio-substances derived from plants and animals, in place of the conventional chemical insecticides and pesticides.

       Covered in the training are the contents on; 1) Prevailing pests and plant management, 2) Using bio-products in the repelling of plant’s enemies, 3) The making of Trichoderma leavening, Bavaria leavening, and Metharizium leavening.

       The farmers are expected to able to apply the learnt knowledge for the elimination of pests in their plantation to help reduce health risk resulted from the use of dangerous chemicals in agricultural products. Higher family income is anticipated via the sale of the bio-products.
