The Office of Academic Services was originally called the Continuing Education Center and was established as an equivalent unit to a faculty according to the announcement of the Royal Decree on December 29, 1989 (Establishment of University Units in Khon Kaen University, 1989). It later changed its name to the Office of Academic Services, following the Royal Decree on May 7, 1999 (Establishment of University Units, 1999). Currently, it was named the Office of Academic Services, according to the Royal Decree on July 7, 2015 (Establishment of University Units, 2015). Its current location is on 5th floor of Bimala Kalakicha Building, Khon Kaen University.
1. To serve as the main and resource mobilization unit, within and outside the university, to provide education and training services to the general public at various levels, both short-term and
2. long-term, in academic and professional careers that the students and trainees are interested in.
3. This is to ensure that the public has knowledge, skills, and various values that can be applied
4. to their daily lives and professions.
5. To collaborate with faculties and various units within the university, as well as government and private sector organizations, providing services to the community.
6. To foster a good relationship between the university and the community.
7. To promote and to publicize the university.
This division is responsible for general administrative tasks as a central unit (Back Office) within the Office of Academic Services. Its main role is to facilitate the efficient and effective operation of other subordinate units. It includes tasks related to documentation, personnel and welfare, coordination and planning with various departments Within the Office, the Building division has facilitated the use of Audio-Visual Resource and is also responsible for public relations, print media services, electronic media services, operational planning, information services, database development, and data collection for quality assurance systems.
This center is responsible for academic services to the community (Community Outreach). It aims to engage university personnel in sharing research and innovation outcomes to drive academic services in the form of Creating Shared Value (CSV). The center focuses on appropriate technology transfer for sustainable social development and improving the quality of life based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also collaborates with external organizations through formal agreements (MOUs or MOAs) to jointly create projects or activities to enhance the quality of life for all target groups. Additionally, the center promotes innovations and technologies for social development.
1. Integrated Curriculum Management: The center develops a flexible integrated curriculum based on society needs, incorporating new paradigms. Approved degree programs allow students to different learning styles, including hybrid/blended learning, combining classroom learning with online learning for additional skills, knowledge, and self-directed learning, with a focus on future skills for the 21st century, particularly in digital technology.
2. Lifelong Education: The center focuses on non-degree certificate programs that offer diverse learning opportunities and easy access to knowledge for learners of all ages. It supports lifelong learning through reskilling, upskilling, and new skill development, includes credit-recognized courses and programs stored in the Credit Bank, as well as short course or professional training, aligning with the national strategy for human resource development and capacity building.
3. The center aims to enhance educational opportunities and social equality as Front Office Services to support lifelong education at Khon Kaen University as well.
